Apparently, someone thought enough of my proposed NFL realignment to actually submit my plan to the "big boys." Whoever you are (and I think I might know... Did we exchange email a few weeks back?), thank you. You know I wouldn't do it myself. Attached is the "Official" response. I am impressed that they actually responded. They might not be as lethargic as I originally thought. Here is to the hope for progress!
From: "Powers, Meghan"To: "'scotti@clark.net'" Subject: NFL Realignment Proposal Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 15:20:14 -0500
I received your letter that was mailed from Elmira, NY, on December 1, 1999. Thank you for your interest in submitting a realignment proposal for the National Football League's consideration.
As you can understand, the NFL receives many commercial and game-related ideas, suggestions and proposals, and also has many of its own projects and ideas under development. Therefore, an idea or proposal you plan to submit to us may have been considered and/or may already be in the planning stage. With respect to League realignment, a multitude of proposals have already been considered over the years, and your proposal appears to contain elements of a variety of such proposals. In any event, the NFL is not interested in pursuing your proposal at this time.
For future reference, be advised that the NFL does not accept game-related and commercial proposals for review, including proposals for League realignment, unless accompanied by an acknowledgment that: (1) the NFL accepts no responsibility for holding any submitted information in confidence; (2) the NFL is under no obligation to take any action with respect to the submission; (3) the NFL will not pay compensation unless it accepts the submitted idea, has received the idea exclusively from you, and executes a written agreement with you as to terms and conditions for development of the idea; and (4) the NFL accepts no responsibility for casualty or loss to samples or other submitted material in our possession. All future submissions should be accompanied by a countersigned copy of this letter, indicating agreement to the above.
Thank you for your interest in the NFL.
Sincerely,
Meghan Powers

Well, Meghan, thank you for the response. And thanks to whomever submitted my ideas for me. It is always nice to be recognized!
