What is a Tragedy
President Clinton was visiting an elementary school and he
asked the class if they could give an example of a tragedy. One
little girl said if a boy chased a ball into the street and got run
over by a car that would be a tragedy.
Clinton said that would be an accident and not a tragedy.
A little boy said that if a school bus ran off the road and
fell down a ravine killing everyone on board that would be a
tragedy.
Clinton said that he thought it would be a great loss but not
a tragedy.
Another kid said that if someone blew up the plane on which
President and Mrs. Clinton were flying that would be a tragedy.
President Clinton agreed and asked why that would be a
tragedy.
The kid said that it would not be an accident and would not be
a great loss so it must be a tragedy.
